The Hilltown Calendar 2021
Many places call themselves "the hilltowns," and many may be as beautiful as these hilltowns of Western Massachusetts. This region, west of the mighty Connecticut River and brushing up against the iconic Berkshire County, has maintained its rural character. While one of the nation's first great railroad bridge-building took place in the southern hilltowns, the undulating topography generally discouraged rail. This disappointment to the farmers of a century ago has preserved the beauty of the place.
